Blog Post of the Day:
What are you doing for Thanksgiving? Do you have any traditions? Go in to detail about your plans for the 5 day weekend.

I'm staying here but my sister is coming home from college so that's going to be super fun. It used to be a tradition that since by birthday is today, we would go to Iowa with my dad and celebrate Thanksgiving and my birthday with my dads side of the family. But that's not happening this year for many many reasons. Also my uncle is coming in town and bringing his 3 pets which I'm super excited to see! He already had 2 dogs and recently got a cat. When he gets here were going to see a bunch of movies like we always do and go shopping for my Christmas and birthday present! It's going to be super fun and it will be nice to have a break from school!

Blog Post of the Day:
Reflecting on the comments and grade of your stop-motion animation... what you would do differently if you had to do it all over again? Would you manage your time better? Find better lighting for your photos? Come up with a better idea? Explain what you would change about your video.

I would definitely pay more attention to the angles because when its playing that fast and it changes the tiniest bit it really shows and looks bad. I would have made my pictures more clear and easy to understand whats going on and would I would have deleted that random text box that appeared saying "Enter text here". For the first half of the video i'm so far away that you can't even see me so I would say the whole video just sucked.
Where even am I?

November 17th 2014

Tell me about your weekend.

I had the busiest weekend I think I have ever had. On Friday, I left home at 7am and didn't return until 12:30 that night. I had relay for life registration, cheer practice and then we left the school right when we finished practicing and got on a bus to the Olathe DAC for the football game, which was so cold but so much fun, even though we lost. Then after the game a couple of my friends went to Jillians house to hangout. On Saturday I had to wake up too early and be at the school by 9:45 for our cheer competition at Southwest. It was an amazing performance and everything hit. So ofcourse, we came out on top with the best score of the competition. Then on Saturday night, 13 of my friends and I went to the Hunter Hayes concert for Mallory's birthday. It was an amazing concert and being in a suite made it so much more fun. On Sunday I had to wake up even earlier, and be downtown for the Adrenaline dance convention by 7:30. That was super fun except that I missed Saturday so I couldn't audition for a scholarship. We had 3 classes, a lunch break, one more class, a 45 minute break and then Best Of Show which is where the best numbers that competed perform. So on Sunday night I did absolutely nothing and just completely crashed.

Friday, November 11th

I took my photos on Tuesday and it was actually a lot harder than I expected it to be. My story was me flying down the lockers at leisure. I was wearing a sweatshirt, leggings and UGGS so I was so hot. I had to constantly jump up and down hallways and I was sweating so bad! Sydney was laying on her stomach in the video and had my phone up on a tripod in the sophomore hall.

Blog Post of the Day:
What is stop motion animation? If you don't know, look it up! Explain.

I don't know, but according to Google it's a cinematic process or technique used to make static objects look like they're moving. It is commonly used with claymation and puppet-based animation. The objects are brought to life by breaking up the figures motions into increments and filming one frame of film per increment.

Blog Post of the Day:
Tell me about your idea for your 5 frame story board. What is the plot? How do you plan to make the story creative? Who's the main character? What is the beginning, middle and end? Tell me about your plan of attack.

My first idea was to do my night at dance, but I can't do it because it's Wednesday night. So now I'm currently sitting here brainstorming what to do.

Figured out my idea! I did a stunt. I had Sydney Renkemeyer backspot, Lexi Ison and I base, and Jillian Hurst fly. The plot is how to put up a prep. I made it creative by using different ages of people, and doing it in the senior hall, where no one would expect for a stunt to just fly up. Jillian would be the main character because shes our flyer and she stands out the most. The beginning is the stepping into the stunt, followed by the hangdrill, the prep, the arms and finally the ending in the hangdrill.

Blog Post of the Day:
Yesterday you edited and uploaded photos to your blog. Tell me more about your photos. HOW did you edit them? Why did you choose the photos that you did? Explain your assignment.

These pictures were mostly all taken in different locations and I really enjoyed taking them. The birds eye picture was done under the football bleachers. I actually smiled in the one I had planned to use. but I thought this one looked cooler. The close up of an eye was actually my friend Josie Euston's little brothers eye. I had taken one of mine and hers and was debating between them, and then when we got home we decided he had cooler eyes than either one of us. My medium shot of someone significant was taken at my dance studio. That place is my second home and it wouldn't be the same without the wonderful teachers there. This is Liz, she actually owns the studio but is also a choreographer. Shes wearing her Halloween costume. My next photo is my medium shot of opposite forces. I took it with Liz's sons yellow jeep. And my long shot of someone waving was taken by Sydney Renkemeyer out on the football field. I edited them using the website we were told to use and just by enhancing one color throughout the whole picture. I chose them because I thought they looked the coolest and most "professional".

Blog Post of the Day:
Tell me about your weekend. Give me details and photos!

On Friday night I cheered at a sophomore football game to make up for a cheer practice I missed. Then I went home and showered headed over to my friends house to get ready for a Halloween party that night. There were four of us that got ready together, I was dressed as a drunk frat star, my favorite twins were dressed as a devil and angel, and my other friend Jillian was a Royals player. We went to this huge Halloween party at Chase Espy's house and that was really fun. Then that night a few of us walked back to our friend Cameron's house and hung out there until really late. Then on Saturday, I had dance for a couple of hours and my sister surprised me by coming home from college. That night, the 10 or so of us that hung out after the Halloween party, decided to hang out again. We went to Reeds house, and it was super fun. We watched Texas Chainsaw and it was one of the scariest movies ever. On Sunday, I didn't do much.  I had dance for a couple hours in the morning and then I went to dinner with my mom and my sister.

What do you know about photography and/or photo editing? Do you take photos? How do you take photos? Do you edit photos before posting them on social media? How do you edit them? Explain any background or knowledge you have about photography and photo editing. Do you like it? Do you have any interest?

Not much, about as much as Instagram has tried to teach me by making my photos look fake. I take pictures of literally everything and I don't know why. I take all my pictures on my phone but then I upload them to my computer. I edit them sometimes but only like a casual filter from an app called Picfx. I do really like picture taking but I'm not too fabulous at it. I really want a good camera so I could get better at it.

Blog Post of the Day:
Tell me about your weekend. Share pics!

Friday night we had a home football game that I cheered at. It was super fun with the little girls cheering with us and Pink Out is always my favorite game. After, a ton of people went over to my friend Cameron's house and ordered pizzas. We also played a very violent game of baseball which ended in bat welts. On Saturday I had dance from 11:30-2:45. We had a break in between so a few of us walked up to Jersey Boyz and had lunch. Saturday night, I went over to my friend Kylie's house to catch up, and then I went over to Chase's house and stayed there for the rest of the night, which was super fun even though I lost my shoes.  On Sunday I had another long day of dance from 11:30-4:15. I started my solo, which I absolutely love. We had another break in between classes so we walked to Starbucks and Price Chopper to get food. I always love hanging out with my dance friends because we all come from different areas so the only thing we bond about is fun stuff like dancing, not the stress of school or local drama. On Sunday night, I was supposed to go get Chipotle and see a movie with a few people, but we all ended up having too much homework and didn't do anything. I stayed home, cleaned my room, and practiced the dances I learned this weekend on my driveway. (leaving my legs very scraped up, but it was worth it.)

Below is a letter written to the editor who wrote the article 'Enforcement of dress code creates negative effect' that your blogged about last week. Most of you wrote on your blog that you agreed with the writer. What are your thoughts after reading the letter below and seeing a different perspective. Are they the same? Are the different? Do you agree? Disagree? Explain yourself.

I can see where you're coming from as a teacher, but I would have to agree more with Riley. There are certain things that all humans have, that should not be visible when just walking around the school. And personally, I know I haven't been here as long as some people, but I have yet to see anything disturbing in the halls. Us as young adults we should have the right to wear what we want and express ourselves through our clothing, Were not professionals, we may be learning to be them, but we currently aren't so there is a time and a place for that, and that would be when were older and sitting in offices all day doing nothing.

Blog Post of the Day:
A curriculum that is actually going to get us to where we need and want to be when we get older. Many of us already have our jobs picked out, and the classes were enrolled in aren't getting us closer to pursuing our dreams and may be pushing us farther away from them. And for those students that haven't decided what they want to do when they get older, they will take classes that will help them decide this and that will be preparing them for almost any job. The courses could be taught by people that have retired from these fields or are currently in them. I would study something related to criminal justice, police work or something involving the FBI. A class about examining bodies and causes of death would also be helpful. If they could make a high school level class similar to the one in the show "How to Get Away With Murder" that would be very helpful also. These classes would differ from my current classes because they would actually be interesting and would be helping me in pursuing my dream of being in the FBI New York Branch.

Blog post of the day:
The following article was in the September issue of The Tiger Print. Read the article (even if you already have) and respond to it below. What do you think? Do you agree? Disagree? Consider all perspectives of the article while you respond
This article is very well written and I agree completely with what shes saying, besides the bash on Lilly because that's a lot cuter than some high waisted crop top converse looking thing. But I still back her up with what shes saying. I really liked the part where she said that boys should learn to control themselves, not make girls completely change how they dress or act. We have to dress up for cheer at least once a week or so and the upperclassmen are constantly getting in trouble for wearing inappropriate dresses or spaghetti straps. I see them and what their wearing, and I personally think the teachers are completely over-reacting. Of-course, i'm not a guy, so I don't know whats running through their heads, but clearly neither does that 75 year old teacher that just reported you. If a male reports your innopropriate clothing, I think they need to have a chat with your parents, not you.

Like seriously whats attractive about a womans back?
And how is this 'slutty?'
I think girls should be allowed to wear whatever they want, unless it becomes a huge riot where people are getting killed or the person is getting bullied, then teachers can get involved, otherwise, just leave us alone.

Tell me about your weekend! If you don't have anything fun to share, tell me about the city you live in. What do you love about Kansas City? Do you have a favorite place in the city? Favorite team? :) Favorite event? Explain.

On Friday night, I went to the Freshman A football game with a bunch of my friends, and then went shopping and to dinner with my mom. On Saturday, I had 2.5 hours of more auditions, and I think those went okay. On Saturday night, I went to Worlds of Fun with tons of people and had such a great time. We did a few rides and did most of the haunted houses. On Sunday, I had 4.5 hours of auditions and those made me so tired. After that we had a company bowling party and I lost both games. That night, I watched the Royals and had Chipotle!

Tell me about your Homecoming weekend! If you didn't participate in the Homecoming festivities, what did you do? Share pics!

On Friday night I cheered at the Homecoming football game and had fun watching us beat Southwest. We got benched for 3rd quarter but it was okay because I liked to watch the game. After the game,  I met up with one of my really good middle school friends that went to Southwest. On Saturday, I didn't go to homecoming because, I didn't want to, and because I had 7 hours of dance tryouts, leading all the way up until homecoming started. Later that night though, I went to dinner with my sister at Kyoto and went to my friends after party and got to hangout with them which was fun. On Sunday, I went shopping with my mom and my sister. We went to the Lilly store and got some stuff, and then I went to lululemon to get some more black clothes for my next weekend of dance tryouts.

Imagine Mr. Bacon has asked you to suggest one way of improving Blue Valley High School to make it a better place for students. Think about the changes that are needed at your school. Pick one change you feel would really make a difference and explain what it is and why you'd make the change.

I believe that improving the lunch menu would be to every ones benefit. The whole grain stuff might be healthy, but it tastes so bad that no one is going to even buy it? Would you rather have kids eat some fatty foods, but still get the needed nutritional value, or not eat at all? If the kids stop eating, which I know some kids that have, their ability to pay attention in class would be so minimal. Which would lead to bad grades, and loose our streak of winning everything. So long story short, we need better food in the lunchroom.

What are your favorite apps on your phone or tablet? Why?

My favorite apps would have to be Messages, Snapchat, Music and Spotify. I like messages because I prefer to constantly be communicating with my friends and family but I hate talking on the phone, so texting makes it so much easier. That's another reason I like Snapchat because it's another easy yet fun way to communicate and I love sending pictures too so it's like messages and camera all in one. I like music because on there I have so many songs so whatever mood I'm in, I have music to help with my moods and I listen to music 24/7. Spotify is also good because you can get music practically for free which I like because I am constantly wanting new songs. But the only reason I don't like it is that you can't pick which song is going to play.

What is email? When do you use email in your own personal life? List reasons and ways that people use email. What do you know about "email etiquette"?

My mom and my grandma use email more than anything, so (sadly) I actually do know a lot about email. I have about 5 email accounts currently set up on my phone, and each one of them gets so much junk mail its annoying. I currently have 8,013 unread emails on my phone. I used to hate google drive because I had bad experiences with it last year, so I would just email myself all my documents and pictures so I could get them at school and home. People use it for communication, sending mass emails for promoting an event or some sort of organization, and lots of companies use it to send coupons and stuff.

Now that you've been in Emerging Technology for several weeks... what do you think? Do you think the web tools (Drive, Evernote, Bubbl, etc.) are helpful to you? Do you think they will be helpful throughout high school or even college? Explain.

I think these resources will be useful when I need them for another class and the teacher doesn't give us any websites to use. I'm just not a huge fan of research and writing forced essays. But, in the long run I think this class will come in handy when I get older and the teachers tell us to use whatever resources we want.

Do you enjoy writing? When do you enjoy it? What kind of writing do you enjoy? Why do you think the ability to write is so important no matter what kind of writing it is? Give an example that you enjoyed writing or hated writing. Why?

Yes I love writing! I have such a busy schedule that I don't get to write as much as I'd like to, but if I did have time, I would prefer to either write about personal experiences like how my day was or a trip I went on or just making up a story. I think writing is really important because it's a simple way to express your feelings. Especially when you have no one that will listen and understand you, it's simple just to write it down and let everything flow out. Last year my friend had a crush on this kid, and had all these dreams about what she wanted to happen between them. So, she asked me to write a story about how they met and asked her out and everything they did together. I really liked writing this because I really didn't have a prompt I had to follow or any guidelines so I could really express my feelings and that's what I believe writing is all about.

Reflect on this quote. Give an example of a time in your life that this might have been the case.

This is a very inspiring quote for almost anything. For sports, a test, a speech or even meeting new people. A good example of me performing this quote would be when ever I give speeches. I never practice my speech at home before presenting it to the class, so I'm far from prepared. While I'm giving my presentation I have to keep looking at my note cards or slides and  I end up getting points off. Another example would be me studying for this Spanish test I have next hour, I fell asleep while studying last night so I'm not very ready.

What is the importance of research? Why do you need to know how to research? What have you learned in high school about researching topics and finding quality resources? Have you had a helpful teacher that has taught you to research? Explain.

Because there are so many things in this universe that we don't even know exist. And most likely, without the internet we would never ever learn anything. The most important things to learn in life you can't find in textbooks or the internet, you have to live them yourself. But then again, you can look most things up on the internet and find something to help you and that just shows how corrupted this world is. Anyways, I only have one class (this one) that we have full on access to a computer so I haven't learned much yet.
